This week January 18-24 is Nebraska School Board Recognition Week.  Please take a moment and thank our board members for their work on this vital organization in our community.  Current school board members are President Bob Priebe, Vice President Sam Hardy,  Treasurer Ken Winters, Secretary Mary Caverzagie, Tony Foster, Don Freeburg, Matt Glup, Karen Parsons, and Nancy Fitzpatrick.  The school board meets the second Monday of every month at the Administration Center and are open to the public.  The agenda is available the Friday before the meeting and can be picked up that evening.  For more information on the board and its operation, please check out the Plattsmouth Community Schools website at www.plattsmouthschools.org and click on the section for Board of Education.

tom.jpgDr. Tom Osborne will be the featured speaker at the Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet and Awards Night, Thursday, February 5.  This event will be held in the St. John’s school gymnasium and is open to the public.  Tickets are $15 or corporate tables of 8 for $120.  Please call the Chamber office at 296-6021 to reserve your spaces by Monday, January 26.

I attended a meeting for the upcoming Chautauqua last Thursday night.  This is going to be a very exciting week here in Plattsmouth.  Put the dates June 23-June 27th on your calendars now and be prepared to participate in this weeklong event. I am fortunate enough to be serving on the Books/Film Series so we will be showing two movies and recommending two books as part of the events.  I will be giving more details as this process moves along but I can’t wait to see how this all turns out.

The Plattsmouth Public Library has tax forms available for the tax season.  If we do not have the form you need, it may be printed off the IRS website for .10 a page.  We cannot give tax advice but if you know what you are looking for we will be happy to locate the information for you.

Big Kudos to Tincher Auto Mall for being in business in Plattsmouth for 20 years!  I know, that everytime I come over the hill and see their flag, it gives me a thrill. Thanks to Mark Tincher for being such a great supporter of Plattsmouth.  We are wishing you many more years of prosperous ownership here.

And as always, let’s support our Blue Devil athletic teams as wrestling and basketball are both going on right now.  There are various tournaments coming up and as always the calendar is available at the school website.
