"You are cordially invited to witness  the wedding of Wendy and Walter”  in the auditorium of the Plattsmouth Public Library on Thursday, July 16th, Friday, July 17th, and Saturday, July 18th.  Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. with the wedding immediately afterwards.  The wedding is the production of the world renown Redneck Players and promises to be very funny.  Dinner is Mostaccioli with choice of red or white sauce, meatballs, salad, garlic bread, and wedding cake.  Drinks include Beer, Wine, Asti Spumante,  or Lemonade/Water.   Tickets are $25 and are available at Linder Tire, Plattsmouth State Bank, Jenz Salon, or Groomingdales.   I am taking tickets Thursday night-these shows are always fun!  All money raised will go to the Kyle Bluhm family.

Plattsmouth Community Schools registration will be on Wednesday, July 15 and Thursday, July 16 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Middle School Gym.   Please bring any medical records necessary and free/reduced lunch applications.  Also any overdue or lost books may be turned in at the time.  Information tables about Pop’s Place and the PTO will also be there!  First day of school for first through fourth grade is Thursday, August 13th and Kindergartners on Tuesday, August 18th.

The Plattsmouth Public Library has also received “The Big Read Grant” again from the National Endowment for the Arts.  This year’s activities will be focused around the books, “Our Town” and “the Bridge of San Luis Rey.”  We will be holding auditions for a production of “Our Town” and that information will be coming soon!  We are very excited about doing this again and look forward to seeing everyone at the events.

Congratulations to everyone involved in retiring the Plattsmouth Fitness Center Debt over the past five years!  That is a great achievement and reflects the dedication and hard work of the citizens of our community!

Thanks to Barb and Don Story for their generosity in running the Dairy Queen for the last 37 years.  They have always donated coupons to the Summer Reading Program and King Korn Karnival would not be the same without the giant ice cream cone.   Enjoy your “retirement” and have a “sweet” life together.

Congratulations to the Cass County CASA organization which received recognition from the National Organization for meetin g their high standards in child advocacy.  This organization assigns volunteers to work with a specific child through the court system and any proceedings involving the child.  Please contact Kim Carrera at 296-9520, or This email address is being protected from spambots. The Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department is holding its annual dance on Saturday, July 25th from 8:00 p.m. to Midnight at the Plattsmouth VFW.  Cowboy Up will be the band playing top 40 hits as well as classic country and rock.  This is a fundraiser to help the Fire Department cover expenses that fall outside of their operational budget.

The Omaha Royals are sponsoring Cass County/Plattsmouth Day on Sunday, July 26th at 1:35 p.m.   This is a Family Fun Day and the kids will run bases after the game with clowns and face painting during the game.  Tickets are available either by mail or phone;  contact Angie Slaughter at the Plattsmouth Journal.  (PO Box 250 Plattsmouth NE 68048 or 296-2141 extension 105).
