Things are pretty quiet this week after the long Holiday weekend-just a couple of items to report.
"Happy Paws" Plattsmouth Animal Advocacy Group is participating in the Buccaneer Bay Garage Sales on Saturday, June 5, 2010. Sales start at 8 AM to 4 PM. Since the group does not have a garage we (the volunteers) will be on the main road (Buccaneer Blvd.) coming into Buccaneer Bay and before the clubhouse on an open lot. If the wind cooperates we will have our Happy Paws Banner displayed at our site. Please stop by and see what treasures we have to offer (all to benefit the shelter animals, of course). Speaking of treasures ......... are you familiar with the old saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure"? We are looking for generous people to donate some treasures to our cause. If any of you would like to "find new homes" for some of your stuff we would love to take it off your hands. All we ask is that you make arrangements to get it to us at least the day before and that you mark them with appropriate prices. The coordinators for this fundraiser are Fred & Judy Schlingman. Their phone number is 402-298-8042. Please contact them with any questions and any donations for the sale or the shelter. Be sure to wish Judy a Happy Birthday too! We really appreciate all of your continued support.
An important additional note about the Plattsmouth Animal Shelter. 1/2 Price adoptions through June 4TH and remember adoptions are always free to anyone over the age of 60. Contact Sue at 298-8235 or 320-2882 and she'll be happy to tell you about the lovable cats and dogs now available!
Newburn Iris Garden is open 12:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily at 514 16th Ave. You are invited to stop by and enjoy the hundreds of varities of iris blooming now!
Make a Splash @ the Library is the theme for Summer Reading this year. Summer Reading at the Plattsmouth Public Library kicks off on Wednesday, June 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Plattsmouth Community Center. Wildlife Encounters of Gretna will be bringing 8 animals including a tortoise, crocodile, and alligator for us to meet! Logbooks and rules will be distributed that day to begin tracking the kids' reading progress over the 5 weeks of the program. Grand Prizes this year are one (1) individual summer pool pass for the outdoor pool in each age group! All programs are free and it is going to be a great year-hope to see everyone there!
Lofte Community Theatre -- The 34th season opens with Harry Segall's classic, "Heaven Can Wait." The production runs May 28-30, June 4-6 and 10-13.
