It is almost Halloween!

And we want to see the ghosts, goblins, witches, princesses,

and all things HALLOWEEN.

In honor of all things....Halloween.....

This 'little' fellow was caught in our house.  We used this as a teaching technique and provided him with supper.  My daughter watched him indulge in a cricket.  It was very cool to hear her ask questions and point out ALL of his eyes, and count his legs.

I received this picture from a

Plattsmouth Newsletter Reader and I LOVE the idea!

My family sported our homemade costumes at our Halloween party last weekend.

It was also our way to tell everyone we are expecting! They were a huge hit!

pregnancy-infant-loss-remembrance-day

Something that is near and dear to my heart.  October is not only Breast Cancer Awareness month, but it is also Pregnancy/Infant Loss Awareness Month.

In 2007 my husband and I found out we were expecting.  We were OVERJOYED.  The growing tummy, the mood swings, the cravings.  I loved it.

Until the day came that the ER doctor told me that we were losing the baby.  I was ANGRY.  Angry and upset at myself.  I shouldn't have had the pop.  Or I didn't eat the right foods.  I was angry at God.  Why would he take my baby away from me.  After some soul searching and lots of tears, I made my peace.  I realized that HE had bigger plans for our baby.  And we will meet him one day.

I loved that baby.  I always have, and always will.

I am one of the special people in this world.

I have three angels.

Two are on earth in my arms.  One is in heaven, in my heart.

 Schoolhouse Fiddling Bee Results

The Seventeenth Annual Schoolhouse Fiddling Bee in Avoca, Nebraska, was enjoyed by a full house on Sunday afternoon, October 13, in The Old Avoca Schoolhouse.

Musicians from Avoca, Bellevue, Bennington, Lincoln, Omaha, Ord, Seward, competed and jammed with their upright basses, fiddles, guitars, and voices, for cash money and prizes.  The judges had a difficult job, but managed to make wonderful decisions.   The judges were Kylie Rezac, from Lincoln, and Don Bochnicek, from Omaha.

In the Open Division, each fiddler had to play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice.  The winners were:

First Place - Mike Oneel, from Ord
Second Place - Devin Cartwright, from Bennington
Third Place - Dottie Ladman, from Lincoln

In the Singing Division, each fiddler has to play and sing a tune at the same time.  The winner was Ella Moll, from Seward.

In the Fee Fi Faux Division, each musician had to play a fiddle tune on an instrument that is not a fiddle.  The winner was Isaac Bonner, upright bass player, from Omaha.

In the Twin Fiddling Division, two fiddlers had to play a tune together, with one of them playing the melody, and the other playing the harmony.  The winners were Lilli Summerlin, from Auburn, and Sharon Roberts-Yuen from Lincoln.

Next year, the 18th Annual Schoolhouse Fiddling Bee will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014.
