As a reminder, the next meeting of the Korn Klub is Thursday, October 16, 7pm at the Plattsmouth Community Center.  This is the Klub's Annual Meeting and is the final meeting for 2014.  It is open to the public.  
Election of officers for 2015 will take place at the meeting.  We will be electing a new 2nd Vice President and two members-at-large (one lord; one lady).  The positions of Secretary and Treasurer will also be on the ballot.  If you wish to run for an office, or nominate someone, please contact Christine MacLellan, Susie Nielsen, or myself before the October 16 meeting.

The Eighteenth Annual Schoolhouse Fiddling Bee in Avoca, Nebraska, was enjoyed by a full house on Sunday afternoon, October 12, in The Old Avoca Schoolhouse.
Twelve musicians from Auburn, Avoca, Alvo, Bellevue, Omaha, Ord, and Seward, Stillwell, Kansas competed and jammed with their fiddles, guitars, a harmonica, a clarinet, and harmonious voices, for cash money and prizes.
In the Open Division, each fiddler had to play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice.  The winners were:
First Place - Cece Chapel, from Stilwell, Kansas Second Place - Sophie Clark, from Omaha, NE Third Place - Helen Brousek, from Bellevue, NE
In the Singing Division, each fiddler has to play and sing a tune at the same time.  The winner was Sophie Clark, from Omaha, NE.
First Place in the Hocus Pocus Division was earned by the magical trio of John McNaught from Alvo, Mary Fohner from Elmwood, NE, and Lee Copple from Elmwood, NE.
In the Twin Fiddling Division, two fiddlers had to play a tune together, with one of them playing the melody, and the other playing the harmony.  The winners were Helen Corrigan, from Omaha, NE, and Olivia York from Bellevue, Ne
Next year, the 19th Annual Schoolhouse Fiddling Bee will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015.

Keep CCN Beautiful

 Linda Behrns, Executive Director of Keep Cass County Beautiful will be the speaker at the next meeting of the Plattsmouth Garden Club.  Linda will explain the purpose and activities of her organization and how it might be of assistance in various community improvement activities throughout Cass County.  This meeting will be on October 20, 2014 at Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, 702 Main Street, Plattsmouth.

David Seay, Master Artist with the Nebraska Arts Council, will be presenting a Harmonica Workshop/Concert on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at 2:30 PM in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse.  Each paid admission includes a free harmonica for those 6 years old or older.  The workshop will include an introduction to the 10 hole diatonic harmonica in the key of C Major.

The workshop will be downstairs in The Old Avoca Schoolhouse, and  followed by light refreshments, and an acoustic jam session with the performers.  Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur,  one mile south of Highway 34. Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and senior citizens, and $1.00 for children. Seating is limited.
