The Plattsmouth Public Library is hosting Alex Kava, the noted author on Saturday, November 1, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m upstairs in the library as part of The Big Read program.  She will be discussing her new book, “Exposed” and signing copies as well.  There will be copies of the new book available for sale that day.  The event itself is free and open to the public and lig.  Ms. Kava is a wonderful speaker and very entertaining!

The Plattsmouth Adult Book will be meeting at 12:00 p.m. that day for their regular discussion and then will be staying for the author visit.  If you have not attended one of their meetings before, this a great time to do so. 

Friday night, November 7 is “Big Read Trivia Night” at Bay Hills Golf Club.  “Trivia on Tap” is hosting with questions on the 1920’s and 1930’s time periods with bonus questions about The Maltese Falcon.  They are also offering dinner specials of “Sam Spade Shrimp Basket” or “Brigid O’Shaunnessy’s Corned Beef Dinner” before the Trivia Contest starts.  This will be another fun evening, if you have questions call Kirsten “Dollface” Wood at 296-4154.



Plattsmouth High School had several successes recently at State Competitions!


Congratulations to the Plattsmouth Cross Country Runners Boys and Girls who placed at the State Tournament in Kearney last week.  The Boys Team placed 5th overall with Brandon Weekly, Benjamin Bedell, Zachary Parshall, Michael Steube, Alexander Houchin, and Justin Brueggemann all contributing to the team’s score. 

The Girls Team placed 6th Overall with Jessica Moseman, Elizabeth Johnson, Shelby Weekly, Shang-Ah Han, Melissa Herrick, and Sarah Weekly competing for Plattsmouth High School. 

The Plattsmouth Football team had a big win over Nebraska City last week at 61-34.  Good way to end the season for this year, we will be looking forward to next year!

The Plattsmouth High School Marching Band was awarded a Superior at State Competition as well.  Kudos to the band teacher, Brian Alber and all the members of the band for this honor.



Happy Hearts Daycare had an open house on Saturday, October 18 with approximately 115 people to celebrate their 30th year in business. Owner Pam Hart greeted and thanked the many people who have supported the business over the years.  We wish them many more years in business.

Christ Lutheran Church at 15616 84th Street (between Louisville and Plattsmouth) on Hyw 66 is having a Soup Supper Bazaar and Bake Sale.  Saturday, November 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Adults are $7.00; children are $3.00.
