The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley is presenting the last show of the season with a production of “Laughing Stock” by Charles Morey. The story is a behind the scenes look at a small barn theater and its current show. Sound familiar? Performances run October 24-26, 30-31, and November 1-2. If you have not visited The Lofte recently, you need to go and support this excellent company. I have been to two or three productions this year and I am always impressed by their talents.
Saturday, October 25 is “Round Up at the Round About”, the second annual celebration. There will be games for the kids, hot dogs, and other fun activities! So stop up there and support this event. It will start at 10:00 a.m. and run until 2:00 p.m.
“Trick or Treat on Main Street” is on Friday, October 31. Children who want to march in the annual parade will meet in the Windstream parking lot at 4:30 p.m. The merchants will then be standing on each side of the street passing out treats and hopefully no tricks! As the Children’s Librarian, this is one of my very favorite events of the whole year! I love getting to see all of the kids in costume plus all of the parents. Plus, it is just such a cool way to take your kids trick or treating and support downtown.
The Oak Hill Cemetery Tour is on Sunday, October 26 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with tours at 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. This is the first time this has been done and it promises to be fascinating. Among the noted residents is a published female poetess from Plattsmouth. Tickets are available downtown for $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Tickets will also be sold the day of the tours. And what an appropriate way to kick off Halloween week!
St. John the Baptist Rummage Sale is on Thursday, October 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the school’s gym. It is also on Friday, October 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There is always good bargains and stuff to be found at this sale!
