“Greetings” Opens Winter Theater Season
KBC Productions announces that it will open the winter theater season at Mahoney State Park on December 3 with Tom Dudzick’s touching Christmas drama, “Greetings.” All performances take place at the Kountze Memorial Theater near the lodge inside of Mahoney State Park.
Greetings is the story of a mentally handicapped man named Mickey. He lives at home with his sweet Catholic mother and sour Catholic father. When older brother, Andy brings home a Jewish fiancée to meet his family on Christmas Eve, he fears the worst. However, that evening a small miracle occurs. Mickey, whose entire vocabulary consists of “Oh boy,” and “Wow,” suddenly blurts out, “Greetings!” the whole family is left to wonder how this is possible. It is a gentle heart-warming story for the whole family. The production is directed by Kevin Colbert of Weeping Water. Starring in the production are Jim Knierim of Louisville, Stacy White and Shari Hoelker of Omaha and Chuck Danskin of Lincoln. Reprising the role of Mickey for the third time is Jim Frerichs of rural Dunbar.
Performances for “Greetings” are Dec 26-30. Adult tickets are $8. Children are priced at $6. Reservations can be made by calling Mahoney State Park at (402) 944-2523 ext. 7122. Curtain times are at 7:30pm except for Dec 19 which are 2pm Sunday matinee performances. Mahoney State Park is located just off exit 426 on I-80 near the towns of Ashland and South Bend.

Quote of the week:
Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.

A SHORT STORY
‘Tis the season, isn’t it? ‘Tis the season to shop for the perfect gift, to crowd the shopping centers and superstores and malls in pursuit of the prize—a personal, just-right gift for someone special.
Well, as you’re pushing and perusing and pursuing, look up and see the person you’re paying. That person is most likely working a lot of long hours right now, standing on her feet day after day, trying to help you and thousands of others find the perfect gift. He’s probably been moving boxes of merchandise and unloading trucks until late at night.
If she owns the store, she’s praying that she’ll do well this season, knowing that she needs to do up to 50% or more of her annual business in about eight weeks. And he’s still expected to have season’s greetings for every customer. That’s a lot of pressure for anybody to be under.
So as you shop, look up and see the person you’re paying as a person, someone like you who’s doing the best she can to listen to life and make a positive life and a living…and smile and wish him a very Merry Christmas
I hope you enjoyed this week's newsletter. Please feel free to email me any thoughts, ideas, pictures or any information you would like to see included in future newsletters. Please get the information to me no later than Monday morning @ 8 a.m. to be included in the following Wednesday edition.
Thank you for your support and be well.
