The Lofte Community Theatre’s 2008 season will open Friday, May 30, 2008, with the classic play “Charley’s Aunt.” This world famous farce has moved millions of theater goers to tears of laughter. Jack Chesney loves Kitty Verdun and Charles loves Miss Spettigue. They invite the ladies to meet Charley's wealthy aunt from Brazil. But alas, the millionaire aunt sends word that she will have to defer her visit for a few days. What is to be done? The dear young things must not be compromised no, never! But, neither will the youths give up the opportunity of declaring their love. The problem is solved by forcing another Oxford undergraduate into a black satin skirt, an old fashioned cap and wig. As Charley's Aunt, this old frump is introduced to the sweethearts. Then the real aunt turns up! In its many stages and motion picture revivals, this play has reached a wide and eager audience.
Actors in the Lofte's production include Kat and Will Cover II and Bob Pinkerton all from Weeping Water; Dave and Hope Hibler from Manley; Joshua Smith of Plattsmouth; Scott Seelhoff from Fremont; Roland Kelley of rural Otoe; Virginia Howe Kincaid of Elkhorn; and Brenna Jean Thompson of Lincoln. The Plattsmouth Masonic Home will be holding a Garden Party Fundraiser
June 7, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The festivities will include
hors-d’oeuvres, a silent Auction and a plant sale. All the money
raised will go towards expanding the apartments in the 1924 wing.
On Saturday June 7th, Plattsmouth Public Library will be holding a
Dungeons & Dragons Game as part of Worldwide D&D Game Day.
There will also be Fun trivia events including Monster Charades, d20
Questions, 4th Edition Trivia and Dungeon Feud. The fun starts at
12:00 pm.
Cass County Medicine, located in downtown Plattsmouth, is now open to
serve the health care needs of Plattsmouth and the surrounding area.
The Clinic is staffed by Nurse Practitioner Jessica Liesveld and Mental
Health Practitioner Gabriel Gonzales.
The Plattsmouth Early Childhood Center located at 902 Main Street is in
the process of taking applications for the upcoming preschool year.
They have a variety of programs available in our center for young
children in Plattsmouth. Call the office at 296-5250 to request and
application from to be mailed or stop by the center to pick one up. We
will be happy to show you the facilities and the options available.

The Friends of the Plattsmouth Public Library’s annual Used Book Sale
begins on Thursday, May 29, 2008 and runs through Sunday, June 1,
2008. Put the dates on your calendar to come down and get some great
buys on some great books! All proceeds benefit the children’s programs
at the Plattsmouth Public Library.
The Plattsmouth Chamber of Commerce will be holding their 12th Annual
Chamber Golf Tournament May 30th at Bay Hills Golf Course. More
details to be forthcoming soon.
USDA Rural Development Representative Judy James will be at the
Plattsmouth Public Library from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm every Thursday as
part of the 502 Direct Home Loan Program. The purpose of the program
is to provide low income people the opportunity to own adequate,
modest, decent, safe and sanitary homes in rural areas. The loans are
to acquire build rehabilitate, improve or relocate dwellings and
provide adequate water and waste disposal systems. Call Judy at

The Plattsmouth Library Book Club will meet on Saturday, June 7, 2008,
at 10:00 a.m. in the library’s couch area upstairs. This is a very
special meeting as Cyndy Salzmann, a Nebraska author will be in
attendance to talk about her current book, “Crime and Clutter.” She has
also written other books that focus on home matters including
organization tips and reclaiming your holiday celebrations. She will be
signing copies of her books as well. The public is welcome to attend
this exciting event for the book club! So plan on coming for good

The Plattsmouth Chamber of Commerce is selling Chamber Bucks at the
Chamber office. Chamber Bucks can be used just like legal tender in
